The symposium is organised by the PhD in Architecture by Design candidates at the University of Edinburgh:

Konstantinos Avramidis holds a DipArch from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2007) and an MSc, with distinction, in Interdisciplinary Theory and Design of Space from the National Technical University of Athens (2009), where he has taught as a design tutor. He is a registered architect (TEE/TCG) and has practiced architecture in Greece since 2003. His design work has been built, awarded, published and exhibited. Konstantinos has also published articles and book chapters on spatial theory and design. He is currently teaching and undertaking his PhD in Architecture by Design at the University of Edinburgh, where he was awarded the ECA scholarship.

Chris French graduated from the University of Edinburgh MArch with Distinction in 2009. He has worked in practice with Simpson and Brown Architects in Edinburgh and MMasA Arquitectos in La Coruña, Spain, as well as completing several independent projects with a number of collaborators. He has taught as a design tutor in ESALA for the past four years, most recently with the MArch programme and the MSc in Architecture and Urban Design. He has also acted as an invited critic at the AA School, Newcastle University, and the University of Alghero.  He is currently teaching and concluding his PhD in Architecture by Design at the University of Edinburgh, which was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

Piotr Leśniak holds a First Class undergraduate degree in Architecture and Planning from the Warsaw University of Technology (2006), MArch Diploma from the University of Edinburgh (2009) and MSc by Research in Architecture (2010, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council). His MArch design thesis was nominated to the RIBA President's Silver Medal Award and awarded the Architecture Prize by the Royal Scottish Academy of Art. Piotr has worked in architectural practice in Poland and the UK, as a tutor at the University of Edinburgh, and as designer on several exhibition projects with various collaborators. He is currently working on his PhD in Architecture by Design thesis for which he holds the Principal's Career Development Award from the University of Edinburgh.

Maria Mitsoula received a Diploma in Architecture from the National Technical University of Athens in 2007 and a MSc in Advanced Architectural Design from the University of Edinburgh in 2009, funded by the Foundation for Education and European Culture (IPEP). She is registered architect, member of the Technical Chamber of Professional Architects in Greece, and she has practiced architecture in Athens since 2006. Maria has also taught as design tutor in the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. She is currently working on her PhD in Architecture by Design at the University of Edinburgh, funded by IPEP and Eugenides Foundation.
